An Ordinance redistricting the Districts of the Members of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council. [Council Office, Maynard]

WHEREAS, KRS 67A.023 and Section 4.03 of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Charter require that the districts of the members of the Urban County Council shall, if necessary, be redistricted subsequent to each decennial census by the United States Census Bureau; and
WHEREAS, the Vice-Mayor, in accordance with Section 2-3.2 of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, appointed a Redistricting Committee to study the population of each existing Council district and recommend changes to district boundaries as necessary to redistrict the districts in order to provide for population equality as near as reasonably practical, utilizing the guidelines provided in Section 4.03 of the Charter and Section 2-3.2 of the Code of Ordinances; and
WHEREAS, the Redistricting Committee has submitted its recommendation concerning the revision of district boundary lines to the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Council reviewed the Redistricting Committee's recommendation and determined that the proposed district boundary changes are necessary and appropriate to meet the requirements of KRS 67A.023 and Section 4.03 of the Charter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the preamble to this Ordinance be and the same is incorporated herein, the same as if set out in full.
Section 2 - That pursuant to KRS 67A.023 and Section 4.03 of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Charter, the twelve Council districts shall be as designated on the map which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
Section 3 - That this Ordinance shall become effective on the date of its passage.
