Title
A Resolution expressing the Urban County Government's interest in encouraging the net metering proposal by Ky. Utilities Co. in Case No. 2020-00349 to be duly considered by the Public Service Commission and ultimately decided in an equitable manner. [Council Office, Maynard]

Body
WHEREAS, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council has previously encouraged and endorsed the use of solar energy initiatives as further evidenced by Resolution No. 729-2018, which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and
WHEREAS, the Urban County Council believes that energy conservation should be promoted and utilities and the Public Service Commission should takes measures to ensure that the use of solar energy by consumers is a viable and affordable alternative to the consumption or electricity by other means; and
WHEREAS, in Case No. 2020-00349 currently before the Public Service Commission Kentucky Utilities Company has proposed changes to its net metering tariff as well as guidelines that may result in less of an incentive to produce solar energy; and
WHEREAS, the Urban County Council wishes to convey its position on the proposed rate increase to the general public and the Public Service Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the Preamble to this Resolution be incorporated by reference as if fully set out herein.
Section 2 - That the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government hereby encourages the Kentucky Public Service Commission to duly consider the net metering proposals made by Kentucky Utilities Company in Case No. 2020-00349, in order to ensure that any changes to net metering ultimately adopted are equitable to all parties.
Section 3 - That the Clerk of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council, be and hereby is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to Linda Bridwell, Executive Director of the Kentucky Public Servi...
