Title

An Ordinance amending Section 2-507 (b) of the Code of Ordinances related to the Commission of Veterans’ Affairs, eliminating the membership requirement for a veteran currently enrolled in post-secondary education or a vocational training program, eliminating the membership requirement for a veteran affiliated with the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), and adding a membership requirement for two (2) members from the Lexington-Fayette County Community-at-Large. Summary

Authorization to amend section 2-507 of the Code of Ordinances related to membership of the Commission on Veterans’ Affairs to allow two members to be selected from the Lexington-Fayette County Community at Large, replacing two of the current membership requirements for: a veteran currently enrolled in post-secondary education or a vocational training program, and a member affiliated with the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC).                      BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

Section 1 - That Section 2-507 (b) of the Code of Ordinances, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is amended to read as follows:

Sec. 2-507 Membership.

 

(b)                     The nineteen (19) members shall be comprised as follows:

 

(1)                     Three (3) ex-officio members shall be from the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council;

(2)                     One (1) member shall be a veteran of the United States Army;

(3)                     One (1) member shall be a veteran of the United States Navy;

(4)                     One (1) member shall be a veteran of the United States Air Force;

(5)                     One (1) member shall be a veteran of the United States Coast Guard;

(6)                     One (1) member shall be a veteran of the United States Marine Corps;

(7)                     One (1) member shall be a veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Organization;

(8)                     Five (5) members shall be affiliated with Veterans Service Organizations;

(9)                     One (1) ex-officio member shall be the Commissioner of the Lexington-Fayette Department of Public Safety, or his/her designee;

(10)                     One (1) ex-officio member shall be the Chief Administrative Officer of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, or his/her designee;

(11)                     One (1) member shall be an inductee to the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame;

(12)                     Two (2) members shall be from the Lexington-Fayette County community-at-large. 

 

                     Section 2 - That this Ordinance shall become effective on the date of its passage.
