Summary
Authorization to accept Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United States Marshals Service, Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF). The primary mission of the task force is to investigate and arrest, as part of joint law enforcement operations, persons who have active state and federal warrants for their arrest. The intent of the joint effort is to investigate and apprehend local, state and federal fugitives, thereby improving public safety and reducing violent crime. There will be no Budgetary impact. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized to execute the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, with United States Marshals Service, Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF), as part of the joint law enforcement operations, to investigate and apprehend local, state and federal fugitives, at no cost to the Urban County Government.
Section 2 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
