WHEREAS, at a Public Hearing held on June 13, 2024, a petition for an Amendment to Articles 12-8(g), 16-3(b), and 21-6(b) and for creation of a new Article 30 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government to address outdoor lighting regulations was presented to the Urban County Planning Commission; said Commission recommending approval of the alternative text by a vote of 9-0; and
WHEREAS, this Council agrees with the recommendation of the Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, the recommendation form of the Planning Commission is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That Article 12-8(g) of the Zoning Ordinance of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 12-8. - Minimum design standards.
(g) Lighting. Exterior lighting shall be regulated by Article 30 and restricted as
follows:

Section 2 - That Article 16-3(b) of the Zoning Ordinance of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 16-3. - Minimum design and maintenance requirements for parking areas.
(b) Any lighting used to illuminate off-street parking areas shall be regulated by
Article 30.
