Summary
Authorization to amend Section 3 of Ordinance No. 122-2014 and Section 23-18(c) of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government to raise the maximum age requirement from thirty-four to thirty-five for firefighter recruits. The Division of Fire and Emergency Services originally requested to lower the minimum age and increase the maximum age. On September 25, 2014 (Ordinance No. 122-2014), Council only approved changes to Section 23-18(c) of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Code of Ordinances to lower the minimum age requirement for firefighter recruits. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That Section 23-18(c) of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Code of Ordinances be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
(c) Candidates shall be nineteen (19) years of age by the application filing deadline and shall not have reached their thirty-fifth birthday by the application deadline.
Section 2 - That this Ordinance shall become effective upon the date of its passage.
