WHEREAS, the Council of State Governments is a multi-branch non-partisan organization of states and U.S. territories designed to bring state leaders from across the nation to champion excellence in state government; and
WHEREAS, the Council of State Governments has maintained its National Headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky since 1969; and
WHEREAS, the Council of State Governments National Headquarters has a staff of 90 employees, who are tasked with hosting annual meetings of elected and appointed officials from across the nation in Lexington, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, the Council of State Governments has proudly called Lexington-Fayette County home for over 45 years and has committed itself to the success of not only all state governments but also Lexington, Kentucky.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council hereby names the unnamed street that leads to the Council of State Government’s National Headquarters “Avenue of the States”.
Section 2- That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
