WHEREAS, headwater streams play a critical role in the ecology and hydrology of the larger streams they feed by providing sediment control, nutrient control, reducing downstream flooding, providing wildlife habitat, and maintaining base flow in larger streams and rivers; and
WHEREAS, The Colony Neighborhood Association has recognized the stream flowing through the Colony subdivision as an important aesthetic and environmental amenity and is working to keep the waterway clean by removing trash and debris, restoring its stream buffer with native plants, and planning neighborhood activities along its banks; and
WHEREAS, The Colony Neighborhood Association has been using the name "Wildcat Chase Stream" to refer to this waterway during their work; and
WHEREAS, The Colony Neighborhood Association has petitioned the Lexington Fayette Urban County Council to recognize "Wildcat Chase Stream" as the name of this waterway from the point of its origin to the point of its confluence with the Cardinal Run Tributary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the Council of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government recognizes that the tributary flowing through the Colony subdivision located in Lexington-Fayette County is named "Wildcat Chase Stream" from the point of its origin to the point of its confluence with the Cardinal Run Tributary.
Section 2 - That this Resolution shall be effective on the date of its passage.
