NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That Section 9-3, of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
(a) It shall be the duty of the officers of the division of fire and emergency services to enforce all laws and ordinances of the state and the urban county government covering among other things the following:

(1) The prevention of fires.

(2) The storage and use of explosives and flammables.

(3) The installation and maintenance of automatic and other fire alarm systems and fire extinguishing equipment.

(4) The maintenance and regulation of fire escapes.

(5) The investigation of the cause, origin and circumstances of fires.

(6) The investigation of buildings especially susceptible to fires.

(7) The investigation of hazardous occupancies.

Section 2 - That this Ordinance shall become effective on the date of its passage.
