WHEREAS, KRS 65.870 prohibits an urban county government from regulating the manufacture, sale, purchase, taxation, transfer, ownership, possession, carrying, storage, or transportation of firearms and ammunition and subjects the government to penalties in the event that it continues to maintain any ordinances related to these matters; and
WHEREAS, Section 13-13(b)(11), which requires special licensing of dealers in firearms or deadly weapons, could be construed to violate the spirit of KRS 65.870.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That subsection 13-13(b)(11) of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government be and hereby is repealed in its entirety.
