An Ordinance amending Section 4 of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, relating to the keeping of certain animals, as follows: amending Section 4-11(a) to prohibit the keeping of more than one (1) rooster within any area of the urban county except those zoned agricultural; amending Section 4-11(b) to increase the penalty amount to not more than one hundred dollars ($100); and amending Section 4-12(b) to increase the penalty amount for the keeping of noisy animals to not more than one hundred dollars ($100), all effective November 1, 2025. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That Section 4-11 of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 4-11 - Hogs, Goats, Pigs, Roosters; Keeping.
(a) The keeping of hogs, goats, pigs or more than one (1) rooster within any area of the urban county except those zoned agricultural is hereby prohibited and declared to be unlawful.
(b) A violation of the provisions of this Section shall subject the offender to a fine of not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00). Each additional animal found on the property shall be deemed a separate offense, and each day such violation shall continue shall be deemed a separate offense.
Section 2 - That Section 4-12(b) of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
(b) Any person found to be in violation of subSection (a) of this Section shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine of not more than ($100.00) for each offense.
Section 3 - That this Ordinance shall become effective on November 1, 2025.
