WHEREAS, Jim Gray has served 8 years as Mayor of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government; and
WHEREAS, he also served 4 years as Vice Mayor of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Jim Gray took term during the Great Recession, yet has been successful in his commitment to fairness, smart growth, economic sustainability and making Lexington a Great American City; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Jim Gray has led many projects while Mayor, including a groundbreaking update to the City's Police and Fire Pensions, a reduction in health care costs for the City, linking our city through an extensive bike and pedestrian trail system, instituting the Affordable Housing Trust Fund, creation of the JOBS Fund, moving Lexington to be the first largest Gigabit connected City, renovation and rededication of the Historic Courthouse, expansion of our Parks system to include the innovative Town Branch Commons, expansion of the Lexington Center convention space, and many more programs and initiatives to make Lexington an attractive city for business and residents; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Jim Gray has given so much back to the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and the citizens of the City, earning him the respect and support of the Council and residents of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the members of this Council, on behalf of the citizens of Lexington, commend Jim Gray for his tenure as Mayor and successes that have made the City prosperous and admirable.
Section 2 - That Jim Gray be wished success in his future endeavors.
Section 3 - That this Resolution shall become effective upon its passage and shall be spread upon the records of the Lexington-Fayette Urban Count...
