Summary
Authorization to accept award of federal funds in the amount of $30,000 from the Commonwealth Of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Division of Highway Safety Programs for Distracted Driving Enforcement Services. With these funds, the Division of Police will schedule officers on an overtime basis to conduct distracted driving enforcement. The purpose of this grant is to reduce fatalities on Kentucky roadways and to minimize injuries to the individual and property. A budget amendment is in process. (L0404-15)(Gooding/Bastin)

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized and directed to accept a grant from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Division of Highway Safety Programs, which Grant funds are in the amount of $30,000.00 Federal funds, are for Police Officer Overtime Support for Distracted Driving Enforcement and the acceptance of which does not obligate the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government for the expenditure of funds.
Section 2 - That subject to the provisions of Ordinance No. 22-79, the Mayor is hereby authorized, in his discretion as Chief Executive Officer of the Urban County Government, to transfer the unencumbered balance of any operating or capital account appropriation to another operating or capital account appropriation within the Grant budget previously established for this Grant.
Section 3 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
