Summary

Authorization to accept an award of Federal funds from Community Action Council for Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison and Nicholas Counties, Inc. (CAC) in the amount of $49,443.84 for the provision of early childhood care and education services; and $30,000 for facility use by CAC beginning August 1, 2026, under the Early Head Start Program (EHS) at the Family Care Center for FY 2027.  A 25% general fund local match in the amount of $12,360.96 is required for the use of 4 classrooms, office and playground spaces in connection with EHS and Head Start services to be provided by CAC. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

                     Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized and directed to accept a Grant from the Community Action Council for Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison, and Nicholas Counties, Inc., which Grant funds are in the amount of $49,443.84 in Federal funds for the provision of early childhood care and education services and $30,000.00 in Federal funds for facility use under the Early Head Start Program at the Family Care Center for FY 2027, the acceptance of which obligates the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government to the expenditure of $12,360.96 as a local match, contingent upon the approval of a pending Budget amendment.

                     Section 2 - That subject to the provisions of Section 7-48 of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Code of Ordinances, the Mayor is hereby authorized, in her discretion as Chief Executive Officer of the Urban County Government, to transfer the unencumbered balance of any operating or capital account ap-propriation to another operating or capital account appropriation within the Grant Budget established for this Grant.

                     Section 3 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
