WHEREAS, Council by Resolution No. 74-2019, approved the facility usage Agreements with participating leagues for the right to use LFUCG baseball and softball fields and facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Agreement designates a fee of equal to $3.00 per player registered to participate in the League’s Wee Ball and T-Ball programs and $5.00 per player in all other age groupings, per season, to be paid to the Division of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Parks and Recreation wishes to use the fees collected to offset the cost of maintenance of the fields.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 -That in order to ensure appropriate treatment of revenue received from the baseball/softball league maintenance fee from participating leagues, the Department of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to designate a fund which will be used for the operation and maintenance of Division of Parks and Recreation baseball and softball parks.
Section 2 - The fund will be funded through the revenues collected from the participating leagues, as adopted by Resolution 74-2019. The funds are to be dedicated to the Division of Parks and Recreation for ballfield maintenance.
Section 3 - The fund shall be used in accordance with Parks and Recreation Standard Operating Procedure regarding Franchise Player Fees, which is attached hereto and incorporated within.
Section 4 - The dedication of the revenue collected from the participating leagues to the fund shall renew with the approval of the facility usage Agreements by Council.
Section 5 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
