This is a request to amend an ordinance pertaining to the Raven Run Advisory Board to modify current language to reflect "a Lexington garden club" and to reflect "member shall be a current or former educator from a Fayette County School" and adding "ecological" to roles considered by the board's members.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That Section 2-243(2) of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government be and hereby amended to read as follows:
(2)      The board is established for the purpose of advising the division of parks and recreation in an effort to perpetuate the nature sanctuary status of property in Fayette County known as the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary. The board's role in carrying out this purpose will entail suggesting methods to protect the scenic, historical, biological, ecological and geological attributes of the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary, to minimize impact to the environment and to maintain a trail system of good quality; assisting in the implementation of a nature study center at the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary; encouraging owners of property adjacent to Raven Run Nature Sanctuary to maintain their property in a manner that is compatible with a nature sanctuary; attempting to obtain funding for the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary through private and public sources, such funds to be administered and appropriated by the urban county government for the purposes of the Raven Run Sanctuary; and advising and assisting in other matters relating to the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary.
 
Section 2 - That Section 2-244 of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government be and hereby amended to read as follows:
The board shall consist of fourteen (14) members all of whom shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by a majority of the urban county council members. Of the fourteen (14) members to be appointed one (1) member shall be selected as a representative of Bluegrass Tomorrow; one (1) member shall be selected from the Sierra Club; one (1) member shall be selected from the Audubon Society; one (1) member shall be selected from a Lexington garden club; one (1) member shall be a current or former educator from a Fayette County School; one (1) member shall be a trails specialist; one (1) member shall be a botanist; one (1) member shall be a forester; one (1) member shall be selected from the division of parks and recreation; one (1) member shall be a member of the urban county council and shall be an ex officio nonvoting member; and four (4) other members shall be selected because of their specific interest or expertise relating to the preservation and maintenance of the natural environment.
 
Section 3 - That this Ordinance shall become effective on the date of passage.
