Summary
Request Council approval to authorize the Mayor to sign Agreements with the Department of the US Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, for the provision of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance/Tax Counseling for the Elderly (VITA/TCE) program. This program provides free tax preparation and filing to low to moderate income citizens in Fayette County. The United Way of the Bluegrass is the statewide administrator of the VITA/TCE program. The LFUCG Department of Social Services will provide program space for VITA/TCE at the Black and Williams Neighborhood Center (498 Georgetown Street) and the Gainesway Community Center (1201 Centre Parkway). Program space will be available late January through mid-April. Services will be rendered by volunteers registered with the United Way. There is no Budgetary impact. (L1600-15)(Ford)

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized to execute an Internal Revenue Service Sponsor Agreement and Civil Rights Assurance, which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Programs at the Gainesway Community Center and the Black and Williams Neighborhood Center, at no cost to the Urban County Government.
Section 2 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
