Summary

Authorization to submit applications to the Kentucky Office Of Homeland Security requesting federal funds for various public safety projects under the 2015 State Homeland Security Grant Program. The funds are to provide financial assistance for states to prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism. The state is responsible for allocating these dollars to municipalities.                      BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

                     Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute and submit the Six (6) Grant Applications, which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, to the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security and to provide any additional information requested in connection with these Grant Applications, which Grant funds are in the amount of $445,880.00 Federal funds under the 2015 State Homeland Security Grant Program, and are for the purchase of hazardous material detection and mitigation equipment ($65,000), coded key card entry system ($100,000) and cyber security hardware and software ($8,000) for the Division of Fire and Emergency Services; and the purchase of a multi-purpose training prop and bomb suit for the Hazardous Devices Unit ($142,800) and a searchlight system for the Air Support Unit ($130,080) for the Division of Police.

                     Section 2 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
