Summary

Authorization to accept an Agreement for Federal funds in the amount of $120,000 from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) for the Virginia/Red Mile/Forbes Trail Connectivity Safety Study and to accept an Agreement with the University of Kentucky (UK) for funding in the amount of $15,000 to be applied to the 20% required non-federal match. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

                     Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute an agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (“Cabinet”), attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in order to accept a Grant from the Cabinet and the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (“MPO”), which Grant funds are in the amount of $120,000.00 in Surface Transportation Block Grant - Lexington (STBG-SLX) Federal funds for the Virginia/Red Mile/Forbes Trail Connectivity Safety Study as part of the MPO’s FY 2021-2024 Transportation Improvement Program, the acceptance of which obligates the Urban County Government to the expenditure of $30,000.00 as a local match.

                     Section 2 - That the Mayor is further authorized to execute an agreement, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, with the University of Kentucky, which provides that the University of Kentucky shall contribute $15,000.00 toward the match requirement.

                     Section 3 - That subject to the provisions of Section 7-48 of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Code of Ordinances, the Mayor is hereby authorized, in her discretion as Chief Executive Officer of the Urban County Government, to transfer the unencumbered balance of any operating or capital account appropriation to another operating or capital account appropriation within the Grant budget previously established for this Grant.

                     Section 4 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
