Summary

 

Authorization to accept award of federal funds in the amount of $867,600 from the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management under the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program. Council had previously approved the submission of an application requesting federal funds under these programs. Funds will be used to support the cost of acquisition and demolition of up to six residential properties on Clarksdale Court along Eastland Park Tributary. These properties have experienced repeated home flooding for an extended period of time. A 25%, or $289,200, local match is required and has been requested as part of the FY 2016 budget. Acceptance of the award will be subject to the availability of funds in FY2016. The total project cost will be $1,156,800. (L0614-15)(Gooding/Holmes)

                     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

                     Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized and directed to accept a grant from the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management, which Grant funds are in the amount of $867,600.00 Federal funds, under the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Flood Mitigation/Pre-Disaster Mitigation Assistance Program, are for acquisition and demolition of up to six (6) residential properties on Clarksdale Court along Eastland Park Tributary, the acceptance of which obligates the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government for the expenditure of $289,200.00 as a 25% local match.

                     Section 2 - That subject to the provisions of Ordinance No. 22-79, the Mayor is hereby authorized, in his discretion as Chief Executive Officer of the Urban County Government, to transfer the unencumbered balance of any operating or capital account ap-propriation to another operating or capital account appropriation within the Grant budget previously established for this Grant.

                     Section 3 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
