WHEREAS, the Central Kentucky Regional Business Park Authority (the “Authority”) is an economic development entity created by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government in conjunction with other regional local governments and to which the Urban County Government is a member;
WHEREAS, the Authority has property available in Berea, Kentucky, which is ready to be developed into the Central Kentucky Regional Business Park;
WHEREAS, the Authority, through its members, continues to seek funding to develop the Central Kentucky Regional Business Park in order to support economic development and job creation in Lexington and the region;
WHEREAS, the Office of United States Representative Andy Barr has indicated that there May be federal funding available for Community Projects such as site design, infrastructure improvements, and site preparation for business park projects; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Central Kentucky Regional Business Park would be an ideal local use of federal Community Projects funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the above recitals are incorporated herein as if fully stated.
Section 2 - That the Council of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government hereby expresses its support for a Congressional Community Project Funding Request on behalf of the Central Kentucky Regional Business Park Authority, and further supports the submission of this project to the Office of United States Representative Andy Barr for funding of up to $10 million for the authority.
Section 3 - That the Mayor, or her designee, be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute and provide any necessary forms or supporting documentation related to the project to the Office of United States Representative Andy Barr.
Section 4 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
