Summary

Body
WHEREAS, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government is a merged government which replaced and superseded the governments of the City of Lexington and Fayette County; and
WHEREAS, the Urban County Government desires jail arraignment equipment approved by the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) on behalf of the residents of Lexington-Fayette County by supporting the HB 1 Project; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that HB 1 monies available to Urban County Government for the purposes stated herein, pursuant to 2022 Kentucky General Assembly HB 1 (Budget Bill), impose certain obligations and responsibilities upon LFUCG and will require among other things:
(1) Approval of a satisfactory application transmitted to DLG for approval; and
(2) Other obligations of Urban County Government in connection with receiving the HB 1 Grant of monies for the purposes stated herein.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute and submit a HB 1 Jail Arraignment Equipment Grant Application, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, to the Department for Local Government (DLG) requesting $113,583.00 in HB 1 monies for the Division of Corrections; to provide additional information and execute any documents which are deemed necessary by DLG to carry out this project; and, to accept this Grant if the application is approved.
Section 2 - That subject to the provisions of Section 7-48 of the Urban County Government Code of Ordinances, the Mayor is hereby authorized, in her discretion as Chief Executive Officer of the Urban County Government, to transfer the unencumbered balance of any operating or capital account appropriation to another operating or capital account appropriation within the Grant Budget previously established for this Grant.
Section 3 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
