BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
      Section 1 - That Section 23-6(a)(6) of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Code of Ordinances be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
(6) Be over twenty-one (21) years of age to be eligible to be an applicant for the position of chief of police and be over nineteen (19) years of age to be eligible for initial appointment to the division of fire and emergency services.  
 
Section 2 - That Section 23-13(a) of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Code of Ordinances be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
(a) The director shall apply preference points equivalent to a two (2) percent upgrade to the candidates' final score, after all required examinations are completed, for any candidate who has served in any branch of the United States Armed Forces and who has received an honorable discharge.  The director shall also apply preference points equivalent to a two (2) percent upgrade to the candidates' final score for Fayette County residents and an equivalent one (1) percent upgrade to the candidates' final score for residents of the following contiguous counties: Bourbon, Clark, Jessamine, Madison, Scott, and Woodford.  
 
Section 3 - That Section 23-18(c) of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Code of Ordinances be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
(c) Candidates shall be nineteen (19) years of age by the application filing deadline and shall not have reached their thirty-fourth birthday by the application deadline.  
 
Section 4 - That this Ordinance shall become effective upon the date of its passage.
