Summary

Authorization to submit a project proposal, and if invited, an application for a Grant award, for the purpose of seeking and accepting funding to construct a new Fire station that will enhance the Fire and emergency response coverage for the community, including improved service response to Bluegrass Station.  The proposal and application seek Grant funding for a project cost not to exceed $12 million, which includes a 30% local match for the construction of a new Fire station. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute and submit an application to the U.S. Department of War, Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation, which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, and to provide any additional information requested in connection with this Grant Application, for  federal funding toward the construction of a Fire station, for the Division of Fire and Emergency Services, which will require a thirty percent (30%) local match if selected.

Section 2 - That subject to the provisions of Section 7-48 of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Code of Ordinances, the Mayor is hereby authorized, in her discretion as Chief Executive Officer of the Urban County Government, to transfer the unencumbered balance of any operating or capital account appropriation to another operating or capital account appropriation within the Grant Budget established for this Grant.

Section 3 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
