Summary

 

Authorization to accept award of federal funds in the amount of $34,000 from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security for purchase of key card entry systems and a video monitoring system at selected properties for the Division of Fire and Emergency Services under the 2015 State Homeland Security Grant Program. This will enhance security for several fire stations and the Fire Training Academy. No matching funds are required.  A budget amendment is in process. (L1362-15)(Gooding/Bastin)

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

                     Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized and directed to accept a grant from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, which Grant funds are in the amount of $34,000.00 Federal funds for the purchase of coded key card systems at Fire Stations #3 and #20 for installation of security video cameras at Fire Station #1, under the 2015 State Homeland Security Grant Program and does not obligate the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government for the expenditure of funds.

                     Section 2 - That subject to the provisions of Ordinance No. 22-79, the Mayor is hereby authorized, in his discretion as Chief Executive Officer of the Urban County Government, to transfer the unencumbered balance of any operating or capital account ap-propriation to another operating or capital account appropriation within the Grant budget previously established for this Grant.

                     Section 3 - For the purpose of any Kentucky Office of Homeland Security funded projects using FY-2015 funds the city will use the provisions of KRS 45A for the purchase of equipment and/or services.  For any equipment and/or services under $20,000 three (3) quotes will be obtained.  For any equipment and/or services that exceeds $20,000 the provisions of KRS 45A will apply.

                     Section 4 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
