WHEREAS, KRS 95.965 was recently enacted to provide that any person who is at least twenty (20) years of age shall be eligible to be employed by an Urban County Government Police force for the purpose of attending a basic training course if he or she will be twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of becoming certified; and

WHEREAS, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government desires to amend the minimum age requirement for appointment in the Code of Ordinances to reflect the minimum age set forth in KRS 95.965.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

Section 1 - That Section 22-53.1(c) of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government be and hereby is amended to read as follows:

(c) Any candidate who is at least twenty (20) years of age shall be eligible if they will be twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of becoming certified, and if they shall not have reached their forty-first birthday by the application filing deadline date. 

                     Section 2 - That this Ordinance shall become effective on the date of its passage.
