Authorization to submit an application requesting $10,000 from the Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeway Commission’s Paula Nye Memorial Bicyclist and Pedestrian Education Program for operation of a public education program for bike and pedestrian safety. The funds will supplement a Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Marketing Campaign with the goal of reducing the incidence of collisions between bicycles, pedestrians, and motorists; increasing public awareness of rules of the road; and fostering mutual respect among motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

                     Section 1 - That the Mayor, on behalf of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, be and hereby is authorized and directed to accept a grant from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Division of Highway Safety Programs, which Grant funds are in the amount of $30,000.00 Federal funds, are for Distracted Driving Enforcement Services, the acceptance of which does not obligate the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government for the expenditure of funds.

                     Section 2 - That subject to the provisions of Ordinance No. 22-79, the Mayor is hereby authorized, in his discretion as Chief Executive Officer of the Urban County Government, to transfer the unencumbered balance of any operating or capital account ap-propriation to another operating or capital account appropriation within the Grant budget previously established for this Grant.

                     Section 3 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
