Body

WHEREAS, the Council recognizes that there are numerous vacancies in the Division of Enhanced 911 that remain unfilled after multiple Recruitment processes, and that the Division of Enhanced 911 has experienced a higher than anticipated rate of attrition of qualified employees; and

WHEREAS, the Council believes that employment market conditions have made it exceptionally difficult to Recruit and retain qualified employees in the following classifications: Telecommunicator, Telecommunicator Senior, Telecommunicator Supervisor, E-911 Manager, and Radio/Electronics Specialist, all in the Division of Enhanced 911; and

WHEREAS, Section 21-27(d) of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government allows the Urban County Council, on recommendation of the Director of Human Resources and with the approval of the Chief Administrative Officer, to authorize a salary supplement to certain classifications in the Classified Civil Service when employment market conditions make it exceptionally difficult to Recruit and retain qualified employees in those classifications.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:

                     Section 1 - That, pursuant to the authority set forth in Section 21-27(d) of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, a salary supplement in the amount of Four Thousand Dollars ($4,000.00) per year, divided across twenty-six (26) pay periods and calculated as an additional sum payable on an hourly basis for non-exempt employees and on a biweekly basis for exempt employees, be and hereby is authorized for the classifications of Telecommunicator, Telecommunicator Senior, Telecommunicator Supervisor, E-911 Manager, and Radio/Electronics Specialist, all in the Division of Enhanced 911, in recognition that employment market conditions have made it exceptionally difficult to Recruit and retain qualified employees in these classifications.

                     Section 2 - That payment of this supplement be and hereby is authorized for eligible full-time non-sworn Classified Civil Service employees in the classifications of Telecommunicator, Telecommunicator Senior, Telecommunicator Supervisor, E-911 Manager, and Radio/Electronics Specialist, all in the Division of Enhanced 911, pursuant to the terms and conditions for a salary supplement based on employment market conditions as set forth in Section 21-27(d) of the Code of Ordinances of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, effective on January 2, 2023.

                     Section 3 - That this Ordinance shall become effective on passage.
