Summary
Authorization to establish Axon Enterprise, Inc. as a Sole Source Vendor for annual maintenance on body worn cameras. This Sole Source Certification will allow for maintenance on all of the Department's Body Worn Cameras. As part of our initial purchase of Body Worn Cameras and accessories, we purchased cameras for 400 officers. This purchase was made with a five-year Contract that included an annual maintenance payment of $445,250. This purchase was authorized by Council and signed by the Mayor under Resolution 270-2016 (attached). We made a sole source purchase of additional cameras for 124 officers to match our authorized strength in primary enforcement positions and deploy cameras to officers in additional units. As part of that purchase, there is an annual maintenance payment due of $54,672 for each of the two years remaining in the five-year Contract. We are requesting approval of a sole source Contract with Axon Enterprises to pay the additional $54,672 for FY20 and FY21. Funds will be Budgeted in both years to cover the entire $499,922. At the end of the five-year Contract, we will negotiate a new Contract that includes all of the cameras. The Lexington Police Department is requesting approval of the Sole Source Certification with Axon Enterprise, Inc. Funds are Budgeted. [Weathers/Armstrong] (L1320-19)
