Summary
WHEREAS, the rapid increase in the availability and utilization of short term rentals has created an abundance of opportunities for Lexington-Fayette County residents, visitors, and the Urban County Government; and
WHEREAS, the Urban County Council wishes to assist local residents and short term rental hosting platforms in providing visitors with great experiences of all that Lexington-Fayette County has to offer; and
WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of all individuals and businesses participating in Lexington-Fayette County's thriving tourism and travel industry to ensure they are doing their part to help Lexington-Fayette County continue to offer world class attractions and services; and
WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon the Urban County Government to ensure that all businesses are fully and fairly represented in Lexington-Fayette County's growing economy;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council does hereby authorize and direct the administration to take all reasonable steps necessary to enter into Agreements with short term rental platforms operating in Lexington-Fayette County for the collection and remission of transient room taxes on behalf of hosts, as well as any other applicable fees or taxes to which short term rental hosts or users May be subject.
Section 2 - That this Resolution shall become effective on the date of its passage.
