[Council Office, Maynard]
Body
WHEREAS, women have taken great steps throughout our history to advance the City of Lexington, the Commonwealth, the nation, and the world; and
WHEREAS, Lexington and Kentucky have often failed to honor such women in our public spaces with monuments and memorials; and
WHEREAS, our failure to publically honor such women obscures our city's and our nation's history and narrows the vision of our youth; and
WHEREAS, the presence of such symbols would serve as a source of inspiration and encouragement to all citizens; and
WHEREAS, women are to be commended and supported in their organizations, activities, and accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Lexington is the birthplace of and has been the home to numerous noteworthy women from educators to advocates, to philanthropists, to scholars, to renowned physicians, to leaders of the women's suffrage movement; and
