A Resolution expressing support for and requesting that the Ky. Dept. of Housing, Buildings and Construction approve and adopt the suggested amendments to the Ky. Residential and Building Codes submitted by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government ADA Task Force and directing the Council Clerk to deliver a copy of this Resolution to the Commissioner of the Ky. Dept. of Housing, Buildings and Construction and to all current elected state representatives and state senators. [Council Office, Maynard]

WHEREAS, Lexington-Fayette County desires to be an accessible and inclusive community; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government created the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Task Force in January 2017; and
WHEREAS, the ADA Task Force was charged with exploring how Lexington-Fayette County can enforce compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Kentucky State Residential and Building Codes, within residential, commercial and governmental structures located in Lexington-Fayette County; and
WHEREAS, to this end, on July 22, 2017, the ADA Task Force drafted amendments to the Kentucky Residential and Building Codes and submitted said amendments to the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings, and Construction for consideration.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE LEXINGTON-FAYETTE URBAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT:
Section 1 - That the Council of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government hereby expresses support for the amendments, which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, suggested by the ADA Task Force to the Kentucky Residential and Building Codes.
Section 2 - That the Council of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government hereby requests that the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings, and Construction consider approving and adopting the amendments to the Kentucky Residential and Building Codes.
